Who publishes this

American Economic Statecraft is published and paid for by Prospera International Inc. The company operates Próspera, a special economic zone on the island of Roatán, Honduras, organized under that country’s ZEDE framework.

Why we run it

Our interest in this subject is direct. We build and operate the kind of jurisdiction this body of policy contemplates, and we advocate in Washington for American economic-statecraft policy.

We found no existing resource online where all things American Economic Statecraft lived. In hearings, speeches, and interviews, officials and Members say consequential things that go unrecorded a week later, and the documents underneath the debate sit scattered across agency sites and committee pages. So the site has a long doctrine essay setting out the argument as we understand it, a running desk tracking what administration officials and Members of Congress say and do on economic statecraft, a canon of the source documents themselves, a glossary, and a reading list.

The positions here are ours

The editorial positions on this site are our own. It speaks for no other company or organization, and no outside funder directs what appears on it.

We expect readers to discount our arguments for our interest, and evaluate the arguments on their own standalone merits, not based on who wrote it. We believe epistemic norms are important, and that it’s better to know who wrote something and what their biases are up front, so you can evaluate the evidence on the merits, with the authorship caveats in mind.
